Ok so summer has started about 5 days ago for me. A lot of stuff has happened since then and even before school got out so I'm going to update you on everything that is going on.
On the 15th my grandpa died unexpectedly and me and my family had to deal with all of the wake and funeral arrangements. It really is amazing how much a person like that can actually mean to you, even if you don't know it. My grandpa was a very interesting man and there is a lot of stuff that I never got to talk about with him. Since he became sick unexpectedly in the hospital, he has become my idol and I am doing the best I can to learn about him from his writings and stories that other people have about him.
At the same time, a few days later, the 20th I got my official Illinois License, making my business Duck Duct Dave, an official business!!! :) Now for the hard part: Selling Items!
I also have been free hugging over this past week. I have recently bought Cheerful Change which is a gold coin that says "you make the difference" on the front and on the back it says "pass this onto somebody who makes a difference". I have been trying to hand this out to everyone that I hug as a little reminder of how much it really means that they hugged me. Also I try and use it as a symbol of kindness, generosity, and love (another way to spread love, even beyond the hug). The idea behind Cheerful Change is to show your appreciation for an action or act that you would like to show your appreciation for. There are many types of these coins and they can be found at www.baudville.com and search for Cheerful Change.
Recently during some of my free hugging expenditures, I have met some pretty awesome people. Some people that stand out are: someone who gave me some of his ice cream which was pretty amazing because I love ice cream!, Also I got to hug a foreign exchange student! (that was really exciting), and of coarse the people who came running out of the Bennigan's resturant on Michigan Ave. in order to hug me!!! (Thank you!!!) :)
I have also started play practice for Measure for Measure by William Shakespear which is pretty fun and I am taking a summer class learning how to design websites which skills I will use to create an amazing and awesome web page for my business hopefully!!! I am hoping to have that done and up in 2 months or less, preferably less (which will allow me more time to give away free hugs and get money so that I can buy a car and gear to live in my car and go around the country giving away free hugs, therefore being a professional free huger or as close to a professional free huger as anyone has gotten right?
Sorry about the long post, I am going to try and update it more regularly now and a Big thank you to everyone that has hugged me! It really means a lot! Until Next time! This is David, Signing off.

  1. I received a hug and a coin from you when I was in Chicago last month. It was probably June 26th? I was with my grandparents. I probably saw you 2 or 3 times before I actually hugged you. It made me so happy when I finally did. I had been really homesick, and while Chicago was a lot of fun, I missed everyone back in Alabama.

And... yeah. I just wanted to thank you for that hug. It made my trip a lot better. I keep the coin in my wallet now.

You seem like a really cool guy, and I hope everything has gone well since I saw you, and I hope everything continues to go well.

    Good luck!

  2. YESS!! I'm glad you commented on this. I just saw it right now, my summer has been totally crazy and I was just thinking about how I never hear from people who I hug or on my posts on my blog, but this was amazing. It really made my day. Thank you :) It means a lot.
